Ozark Hawg Barbeque Championship
(Last weekend in March)
Home of the Arkansas state B-B-Q championship, this “Memphis in May” barbeque
preliminary event brings barbequers and their impressive “grills” to Batesville,
bringing an aroma you’ll never forget. A famous name entertainment concert is also a
highlight.
Batesville Speedway
(April Through September)
Mark Martin’s first races were on this track, speed, color and excitement fills this 3/8
mile dirt oval where stock car enthusiasts fill the grandstands each Friday night.
Arkansas Scottish Festival
(Last Weekend in April)
The Scottish “Flair” comes to Batesville on the campus of Lyon College each year.
Scottish dancing and singing, bagpipe music, sheep herding demonstrations, ancient
Scottish games and much more Scottish culture and festivities fill the weekend.
Air Poker Run
(In Month of June)
For the Flying Enthusiast, pilots test their skill as they visit four regional airports,
performing maneuvers and collecting cards for the winning hand as they return to
Batesville airport for the food and fellowship. Public welcome
Fireworks on the River
(July 4th Holiday)
One of the largest fireworks displays in the state. This event draws thousands of
spectators each year. Also, entertainment and other festivities highlight the
celebration.
Independence County Fair
(Third Full Week in July)
One of the State’s largest and most entertaining county fairs, this event brings
exciting rides, interesting exhibits and nationally known country and gospel musical
entertainment.
White River Water Carnival
(First Weekend in August)
The state’s oldest water festival. This event features fun, crafts, food, entertainment,
sporting events, parade, car show, bike show, ski show, and more. A highlight of the
festival is the Miss White River Pageant which has produced two Miss America’s and
numerous Miss Arkansas’s. |
